George Michael goes to jail

This week George Michael (born Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou (Greek: Γεώργιος Κυριάκος ) was jailed for eight weeks after pleading guilty to driving while unfit through drugs and possession of cannabis.

The former Wham! singer had been arrested after smashing his £80,000 Range Rover into a Snappy Snaps photographic shop in Hampstead, North London, in the early hours of July 4 this year.

The 47-year-old was also fined £1,250 and banned from driving for five years, after Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court heard he took a 'dangerous and unpredictable' cocktail of cannabis and anti- anxiety prescription medication and was a 'risk to the public'.
