Scorpion and the Turtle
A turtle was happily swimming along a river when a scorpion hailed it from the shore.
A scorpion, being a very poor swimmer, asked a turtle to carry him on his back across a river. "Are you mad?" exclaimed the turtle. "You'll sting me while I'm swimming and I'll drown."
"My dear turtle," laughed the scorpion, "if I were to sting you, you would drown and I would go down with you, and drown as well. Now where is the logic in that?"
The turtle thought this over, and saw the logic of the scorpion's statement. "You're right!" cried the turtle. "Hop on!" The scorpion climbed aboard and halfway across the river the scorpion gave the turtle a mighty sting. As they both sank to the bottom, the turtle resignedly said:
"Do you mind if I ask you something? You said there'd be no logic in your stinging me. Why did you do it?"
Seven cities of Revelation
"I, John, your brother and companion in the suffering and kingdom and patient endurance that are ours in Jesus was on the island called Patmos, because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like the sound of a trumpet, saying, "Write in a book what you see, and send it to the seven churches, to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea." Revelation 1:9-11
To the angel of the church in Smyrna write:
These are the words of him who is the First and the Last, who died and came to life again. I know your afflictions and your poverty — yet you are rich! I know the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes will not be hurt at all by the second death.

Smyrna Documentary
The film began its European run with great success, opening at the GARTENBAUKINO cinema Vienna on 20 June with a screening of SMYRNA organized in collaboration with PROTEAS, PROTEUS NY INC and ECHO100PLUS & DESMOS with the aim of providing financial assistance in the form of food and medicines to families in Greece who have been hurt by the crisis.
The documentary will premiere on the American continent on 10 Οctober at the Paris cinema, on the opening night of the New York City Greek Film Festival.
In the U.K. the film along with the photographic exhibition will open at the HELLENIC CENTRE in London on 26 January 2013.
What was cosmopolitan Smyrna like at the beginning of the 20th century? How did the Greeks, the largest Christian community, live side by side with the Muslims, the Levantines, the Armenians and the Jews ?
What was so unique about this Mediterranean port, which even today, 90 years after the Destruction is still linked to a joie de vivre during the good times and dirges for the Destruction that came so suddenly in September 1922?
Through unknown photographic archives and film footage, collected and preserved in the United States and Europe by the non profit organization Proteas, director Maria Iliou, historical consultant Alexander Kitroeff and their collaborators unfold a fascinating story in a documentary film that premiered at the Benaki Museum in January 2012 and was a huge success.
Now, from 13 September 2012, audiences will have the chance to see the film in theaters in Athens, Thessaloniki, Patras, Veroia, Heraklion, Chania, Rethymnon and many other Greek cities.

Top Ten reasons why men cheat
Adultery has been around forever, and has always given us something to talk about. Most reality TV shows these days center on it, as do gossip mags. But we are far from cracking the big mystery: Why do some men cheat in relationships?
All men know, at some level, that cheating is wrong. From the earliest age, we are taught the virtues of monogamy. "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife," bellows our Judeo-Christian consciousness. Yet we still do it.
And with evolutionary psychologists telling us that we are wired to lay our seeds in as many women as possible to ensure our genetic survival, adultery is slowly becoming a defensible misdeed, which may explain why women are catching up to men in the game of infidelity.
Because of our insatiable appetite for sex, we men can sometimes only be as faithful as our options. Here are the 10 main reasons why some men will opt to shed their devotion and cheat on their partners.
Number 10 -Your lady doesn't put out
Number 9 - She cheated on you
Number 8 - It's challenging and exciting
Cheating might feel good as a quick escape from your problems, but it's only an anesthetic -- not a long-term solution

blame it on the genes
In troubled relationships, cheating can be an easy alternative to the burden of a breakup or the agony of divorce. It's a quick fix for the sake of the couple's or the family's integrity. Some of us have even gone so far as to enact the long-distance code: If you cheat in another zip code, it doesn't count. And with evolutionary psychologists telling us that we are wired to lay our seeds in as many women as possible to ensure our genetic survival, adultery is slowly becoming a defensible misdeed, which may explain why women are catching up to men in the game of infidelity.

Number 5 - The opportunity was there
Number 4 -Your girlfriend is a nag
Number 3 - Women let us
Number 2 - She doesnt turn you on anymore
Number 1 - You don't love her anymore
your cheating heart
In the end, cheating is no joking matter. If you are cheating on your girlfriend or wife, it might be that you are unhappy in the relationship, or that you have issues that you should address. Look at the big picture and see your unfaithfulness as a symptom of a bigger problem.Cheating might feel good as a quick escape from your problems, but it's only an anesthetic -- not a long-term solution

An affair to remember
Author Wesley O. Hagood, author of the book Presidential Sex, notes that about a third of American presidents have been guilty of extramarital relationships – think Bill Clinton, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B, Johnson – though not all saw professional repercussions.
In Canada, some of the better known cases include that of retired Brig.-Gen. Daniel Menard, who in 2010 pleaded guilty to having improper relations with a corporal under his command (the affair and cover-up resulted in a $7,000 fine and symbolic reduction in rank); as well as top ministers within prime minister John Diefenbaker’s government, who in the 1960s reportedly bedded a German playgirl in what’s widely referred to as the Munsinger Affair – Canada’s first parliamentary sex scandal.
“When people who we hold in high regard, as the cream of the crop – whether entertainers, athletes or politicians – fall from grace, we find ourselves wondering how they could risk it all,” says Biderman. “I think the only insight it ends up giving us is that no one is immune to this.”
When one of the world’s most celebrated tacticians is undone by an affair, a Canadian infidelity expert says there’s only one conclusion to be drawn: that no amount of professional power inoculates against personal weakness.
Friday’s resignation of Central Intelligence Agency director David Petraeus, over an extramarital relationship with his biographer, is just the latest in a long line of career meltdowns spurred by sexual scandal. But no matter the pervasiveness of these dalliances, the culture at large still struggles to reconcile how leaders who rise to power for their good judgment could exhibit such a blatant lack of it.
“There’s this misguided notion that because they were deceitful to their partner, they can’t be trusted with the public good,” says Noel Biderman, a noted Canadian expert on cheating.
“But if we removed every significant person from public office, throughout history, (for infidelity) – Clinton, F.D.R, J.F.K – you’d be talking about some of the most famous statespersons of their time. It leaves a very shallow pool of talent to draw from.”

New Moon in 22 Degrees Scorpio
Scorpio is based on eeriness, mystery, intuition, revival, durability. The emotions are intense and can be uncontrollably flowed upon the surroundings.
When the Moon is in Scorpio, the subconsciousness becomes very active, intuition increases, the ability to understand the unexplainable, the mysterious.
The time contributes to the concentration, increase of the sharpness of mind, criticality. It’s a favorable period for the science workers, psychologists, people with extraordinary abilities.
The family relationships are sophisticated. The emotional tension can lead to a scandal. It’s better to postpone the family gatherings and celebrations for another period.
The Moon in Scorpio encourages the loss of the sense of measure, food, alcohol, but mostly in sexual relationships
Avoid surgical intervention in the area of the reins, sexual organs, excretory system, endocrine glands, large intestine, kidney dishes, urinary tract.

Scorpio New Moon, Total Solar Eclipse, SuperMoon

Sun and Moon in Scorpio 21º
Tuesday, November 13, 3:09 PM MST
(10:09 PM Greenwich Mean Time)
Sun and Moon in Scorpio 21º
With this New Moon, we enter the last six weeks – the home stretch, of 2012. We enter an eclipse portal with a total solar eclipse now at New Moon and a partial lunar eclipse at Full Moon at the end of the month. As a SuperMoon, every effect is strengthened, as the Moon is closest to the Earth and in exact alignment with the Sun/Moon. The Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun during solar eclipses essentially blocking out the Sun's electro-magnetic and radiant energies that are vital to life and allowing a momentary empty moment that can clear and reset our energetic bodies. Anything can happen; release takes place. We realign to this present moment. The universe is offering you an empty vehicle to fill with whatever you want to let go of.
The month is shifty. Three planets change direction. Mars changes signs. Mercury, as you may have noticed, is retrograde (Nov 7-27) allowing weeks of loose connections to realign in new ways (or just tangle around your ankles). Mercury, too, changes signs on 11/14 retrograding back into Scorpio. We just can't move forward in our usual ways with the Messenger and Communication planet looking backwards over his shoulder, although our inner networks just might expand in ways we hadn't imagined.
Neptune and Chiron turn direct Nov 10 and 14 having been retrograde since early June. Reflect on how active our collective unconscious (Neptune) has been since June and how much healing you have experienced since that time. Old stories and issues that hold our magnificent expression in check rise up into our faces and cannot/will not be denied. Saturn is benevolently working with Neptune to dissolve our deep emotional inadequacies and limitations. An exact square from Mercury to Neptune in the New Moon Chart is making it difficult to focus on the purely logical, forward-moving aspects of life. So there may be some frustration as we lean toward the strong pull of the emotional centers and the desire to take time to listen to our intuitive inner voices for direction and guidance.
Scorpio is traditionally ruled by the fiery, aggressive action-oriented Mars and ruled in the modern era by transformative, depth loving, psychologically powerful Pluto. Mars, in this chart, is aligned exactly with our Galactic Center (27º Sagittarius). Because the Black Hole at the Galactic Center emitting powerful forms of electromagnetic energy and absorbing equally massive amounts of energy is aligned with our most physical archetype, Mars, huge shifts in consciousness can be absorbed by this masculine planet and old forms released. This eclipse along the Great Female Dragon Line that circumnavigates the planet mirrors the eclipse of May 20, 2012 that crossed the Great Male Dragon Lei Line at Mt. Fuji and Mt. Shasta.
Huge emphasis is upon the Scorpio archetype. Sun, Moon, Eclipse, Mercury, North Node, Saturn. Scorpio calls in the big mysteries of life: death, transformation, intimacy, sexuality, union with something greater than ourselves. Saturn in Scorpio for the next two years will push us to confront and free what we would normally avoid – places where we are vulnerable, raw, where we have no control, and where our ego is most fragile. Scorpio also holds the opportunity for deep surrender and rebirthing yourself in a powerful new way.
Be ruthless with choking off your old story, wah, wah, wah...
Be disciplined about letting go of associated wounds, raw deals and scenarios where you lost personal power. Drop what you're dragging from the last century that most of you were born in (unless you're under 12 years old). Feed your heart with whatever makes it swell with love and courage. Transformation is shamanic work. Facing the dark; surrender; strengthening your essential core; gaining personal power. You are participating in one of the most monumental transitional times ever experienced on the planet. Now through 2015 the heat is really on. We all must be as fresh, alive, conscious as we possibly can be to channel what is asked of us and to stand grounded and spiritually connected (to source and each other) in the face of the acceleration of the times.
Saturn was in Scorpio in the 'Roaring 20's' (1923-26) when Victorian sexual repression was freed with abandon. 1953-56 Saturn in Scorpio brought us birth control, Playboy magazine, the Kinsey report.* Those of you born in those years will be experiencing your second Saturn return, and those of you born 1983-85, we welcome you to astrological adulthood and your first Saturn return. The Lord of Karma, Saturn, has made one full revolution around your natal chart exposing you to the full panoply of influences in your life and now 'returns' to its original place in your chart.
Keep an eye on the week before Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse on 11/28. The Uranus-Pluto square remains very active and is being triggered by Mars during that time. This can be very disruptive energy and can trigger aggressive actions or power struggles especially where there has been resistance to change or egos feel like they have been denied. Hopefully we can utilize this time for constructive end of the year projects.
Earmark the next six weeks until the end of the year, to personally become as conscious and loving and open as you can be. We have the collective power to diminish the need to trigger a catastrophic event like we saw Hurricane Sandy do to bring this country together and wake it up to cooperation.

Diwali, New Moon, Solar Eclipse - Transforming darkness into light
Deepawali or Diwali is certainly the biggest and the brightest of all Hindu festivals. It's the festival of lights (deep = light and avali = a row i.e., a row of lights) that's marked by four days of celebration, which literally illumines the country with its brilliance, and dazzles all with its joy. Each of the four days in the festival of Diwali is separated by a different tradition, but what remains true and constant is the celebration of life, its enjoyment and goodness.
Historically, the origin ofDiwali can be traced back to ancient India, when it was probably an important harvest festival. However, there are various legends pointing to the origin of Diwali or 'Deepawali.' Some believe it to be the celebration of the marriage of Lakshmi with Lord Vishnu. Whereas in Bengal the festival is dedicated to the worship of Mother Kali, the dark goddess of strength. Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed God, the symbol of auspiciousness and wisdom, is also worshiped in most Hindu homes on this day. In Jainism, Deepawali has an added significance to the great event of Lord Mahavira attaining the eternal bliss of nirvana. Diwali also commemorates the return of Lord Rama along with Sita and Lakshman from his fourteen year long exile and vanquishing the demon-king Ravana. In joyous celebration of the return of their king, the people of Ayodhya, the Capital of Rama, illuminated the kingdom with earthen diyas (oil lamps) and burst crackers.

From Darkness Unto Light...
In each legend, myth and story of Deepawali lies the significance of the victory of good over evil; and it is with each Deepawali and the lights that illuminate our homes and hearts, that this simple truth finds new reason and hope. From darkness unto light — the light that empowers us to commit ourselves to good deeds, that which brings us closer to divinity. During Diwali, lights illuminate every corner of India and the scent of incense sticks hangs in the air, mingled with the sounds of fire-crackers, joy, togetherness and hope. Diwali iscelebrated around the globe. Outside India, it is more than a Hindu festival, it's a celebration of South-Asian identities. If you are away from the sights and sounds of Diwali, light a diya, sit quietly, shut your eyes, withdraw the senses, concentrate on this supreme light and illuminate the soul.http://hinduism.about.com/od/diwalifestivaloflights/a/diwali.htm
Eclipses bring emotional cleansing
Solar Annular Eclipse – 20th May 2012
Total Solar Eclipse – 13th November 2012
This Eclipse in southern Pacific mirrors the May Eclipse. Being a Total Eclipse, the shadow does touch the Earth’s surface. Its astrological pattern resembles a Kite, with its head open like a flower to receive new frequencies from Mars, Pluto and Juno.
Mars is conjunct the Galactic Centre, aligning our personal will with our spiritual will (Pluto), enabling us to be in Right Relationship (Juno) with the Universe. Grounding and balancing these powerful energies, at the tail of the Kite are Ceres, Vesta and Jupiter. Ceres in Cancer challenges us to release emotional resistance to manifesting our spiritual will. Vesta in Gemini challenges us to relate to others in ways that honour the truth within our own hearts. Jupiter challenges us to release dualistic belief systems of ‘this is true’, or ‘that is true’; if we are in Right Relationship with ourselves, others and the world, then both ‘this and that are true’. This means honouring our own perceptions of truth as well as the truths of others.
At the ‘wings’ of the kite are Venus, on one side and Chiron–Neptune, on the other. Venus holds the pattern in harmonious balance; Chiron and Neptune bring the healing potentials of Unconditional Love into our day-to-day lives.
The Sun, Moon and North Node in Scorpio bring commitment and self-discipline to confront our deepest emotional fears, so that we can understand the best ways to move forward. The key is that it is time for us to take full responsibility for our own future, realising that our beliefs, attitudes and deeply held inner patterns create the circumstances of our lives – we literally create our own reality.
The outcome of these Eclipses will be to remove barriers and veils that have existed within consciousness since time immemorial, enabling us to live at one with ourselves, the Earth and the Universe.

MEVLANA Celaleddin RUMI (1207 Balkh/Afghanistan - 1273 Konya/Turkey), Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Balkhi also known as Jalal ad-Din Muhammad RUMI was a philosopher and mystic of Islam, but not a Muslim of the orthodox type. His doctrine advocates unlimited tolerance, positive reasoning, goodness, charity and awareness through love. To him and to his disciples all religions are more or less truth. Looking with the same eye on Muslim, Jew and Christian alike, his peaceful and tolerant teaching has appealed to men of all sects and creeds. United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO declared 2007 to be the Year of Mevlana as the sage of openness, tolerance and overwhelming power of universal love.
"Seven Advices of Mevlana Rumi
1. In generosity and helping others be like a river.
2. In compassion and grace be like the sun.
3. In concealing others' faults be like the night.
4. In anger and fury be like one who is dead.
5. In modesty and humility be like the earth.
6. In tolerance be like a sea.
7. Either exist as you are or be as you look."

Golshifteh Farahani
Golshifteh is highly involved in environmental activities and has also become the ambassador for fighting tuberculosis in Iran.[1] Subsequent to her involvement in the U.S. film Body of Lies, she reportedly had been prevented by Iranian authorities from leaving Iran,[2] but this was denied by her colleagues and she later appeared at the Body of Lies premiere in the U.S.[3] As her last acting experience in Iran, she appeared in About Elly directed by Asghar Farhadi. The film has been selected at the Tribeca Film Festival and won a Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival.[4] She now lives in Paris, France with her husband Amin Mahdavi.[5] In Iran, Golshifteh was part of an underground rock band named "Kooch Neshin" (Nomads) which won the 2nd Tehran Avenue underground rock competition. Since leaving Iran, Golshifteh has been able to continue her music career as well. She has teamed up with another exiled Iranian musician Mohsen Namjoo. Their new album Oy[6] was released in October 2009. They have also started an international tour with 2 concerts in Italy. Since Golshifteh moved to Paris she has been working with directors Roland Joffe, Hiner Saleem and Marjane Satrapi. She has also been a member of the international jury at the 63rd Locarno Film Festival.
Her upcoming movie is Rumi's Kimia,[7] a film in development which is directed by Dariush Mehrjui starring Golshifteh Farahani and based on a novel.
In January 2012, Golshifteh was banned from returning to her homeland after posing nude as a protest against Islamic restrictions on women's dress in the French Madame Le Figaro [8] and also in the César Award's video for Most Promising Actors category.
Britain's Daily Telegraph reported that government officials told Farahani, 28, that "Iran does not need actors or artists like you. You may offer your artistic services somewhere else."[9] The picture on her Facebook page garnered over 14,000 likes and 1,500 shares, initiating a lively debate about her behavior.[10] She also appeared topless in a short black-and-white film by Jean-Baptiste Mondino, called Corps et Âmes, or Bodies and Souls.[11]

The Pain and the Redemption of the Scorpio Eclipse
Tuesday's Solar Eclipse and New Moon comes at an interesting point of time, emphasizing the sign of Scorpio as well as Pluto, Scorpio's modern ruler. Also featured is Chiron, the Wounded Healer. An eclipse is in any case a more powerful than usual lunation, and coming at this time of the year, and inScorpio, reminds us of the principle of transformation and the necessity for spiritual evolution. Mercury, now retrograde and moving backward intoScorpio by late Tuesday evening, fosters a thoughtful mood in which we might be able to fruitfully reflect on our changing circumstances.
At the time of the eclipse, the Moon parallels Pluto, while Saturn is sextile, and also makes an almost perfect trine to Chiron in early Pisces. Uranus is semi-sextile to Chiron within a fraction of a minute of a degree while Venusto Chiron makes a perfect quincunx aspect as well. Chiron, the archetype of Wounded Healer, reveals to us the places inside where we are reactive as a result of earlier undigested trauma, and where we may yet heal. That the painful places within us are activated is, perhaps, a natural consequence of the rapidity of change that we as a society are now facing. The prominence of Chiron also suggests our collective trepidation regarding the future. As one example of the ills that beset us, the storm that recently ravaged the East Coast has forced recognition that climate change is realer than even the most pessimistic assessments, and that the time is indeed getting very short to begin to deal with it.
Our metamorphosis, both collectively and as individuals within a changing society, is far from over, as we know from the prominence of the Uranus-Pluto square, due to last for most of the remainder of this decade. AsChiron comes so fully into our collective focus with the timing of this eclipse, we are brought once again to the realization that we must deal with our own internal wounding also if we are to forge a more viable world.
If the mass recognition of Global Warming has been delayed by a form of collective denial, then we might want to ask the question of what purpose that serves, even as we strive to move beyond it. It's the same with our own personal wounding. If we use denial or if we medicate ourselves in some of the many ways that are available, in order to stave off difficult feelings, we might want to ask the same question, of what purpose it serves, and to have compassion for ourselves as we try to move beyond denial to acknowledgement and acceptance. Certainly there are places inside us, and events that have taken place, that were too painful to acknowledge at the time that they occurred, and might still be too painful to fully acknowledge. We can continue to duck until such time as we are ready to face up to what we must eventually begin to deal with.
The Sabian Symbol for the eclipse degree is "Duck hunters setting off" and the question is what we are hunting. We can continue to set up false goals or to attack projections of reality in attempt to deny it, or we can proceed, with ultimate courage, to go after the truth of our actual situation.
