Immigration guys kicked the star out of stardom - Shahrukh Khan

"Failure is a fiendish friend that can lead to success by teaching one to be pragmatic, to work harder, and to be true to oneself," he said, adding that the true strength of one's friendships is tested in the face of strong adversity." Shahrukh khan

While Nita, wife of Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani, and the rest of their group were cleared immediately, Khan was stopped and was given immigration clearance only after about two hours, sources told PTI.

46-year-old Khan was to address a press conference at 2pm and deliver his lecture at 4pm at the Yale University.

However, he arrived for the press meet three hours behind schedule and his hour-long lecture started at about 6pm.

"Whenever I start feeling too arrogant about myself, I always take a trip to America. The immigration guys kicked the star out of stardom," Khan said with some sarcasm addressing the students at the University.

Easter in Crete

http://creteofmylife.blogspot.ca/2011/04/greek-pasha-is-what-easter-is-all-about.html

I would risk a statement that there is no other as important celebration in the Greek orthodox tradition as Pasha (Πάσχα/ Easter). Big event people, very big! It is good to visit Greece then, especially its islands.

This is when the Greeks from all over the world return to their villages to sit at the table with the whole family, break some red painted eggs, nibble on kaltzounia (καλτσούνια/ tiny pies stuffed with goat cheese or spinach or mixed combination of both) and roast a lamb.

It starts a week before the grand finale of Resurrection and ends almost a week after the eggs and lamb were eaten.

Everybody greets you by saying KALO PASHA (Κάλο Πάσχα/Happy Easter) or KALI ANASTASTI (Καλή Ανάσταση/ Happy Resurrection).

From early in the morning on Great Friday, crowds gather in the church to visit and decorate with flowers the Tomb of Christ so called EPITAPHIOS (επιτάφιος). In the evening, the tomb is taken out of the church to be walked around and cherished by the masses that either follow or stand in the streets mesmerized by this sublime moment. Then everybody goes out…people are dressed up, coffee bars are full. You can feel the atmosphere of forthcoming summer and tourist season that will take full swing right after the Easter is over.

Saturday is the last day of Great Lent. People cook traditional soup MAGERITSA (μαγειρίτσα – soup made of lamb hearts, lamb and calf liver, spiced with lemon juice and served with rice) that will be eaten after the midnight mass when candles (in Greekλαμπάδες/lambades) are lit and the doll symbolizing Judas Iscariot is burnt (I’m still impressed how they manage to set such huge fire on the little square surrounded by people’s houses

Finally the traitor is gone, first bites of meat are taken and then…. the party begins. Sunday is definitely not a good time for vegetarians. Food, lots of food and meat! Back to the regular “Greek “diet…

“Indulge not thyself in the passion of hate, it is whetting a sword to wound thine own breast, or murder thy friend”
“Love your enemies.”
“The man who foolishly does me wrong, I will return to him the protection of my most ungrudging love; and the more evil comes from him, the more good shall go from me
“My religion is truth. My practice is non-cooperation with evil.”
“I permit no man to narrow and degrade my soul by making me hate him.”
“Hate is too great a burden to bare.”

Easter in Agios Oros / Mount Athos

Time on Mount Athos runs according to the Julian calendar, abandoned by most of Western Europe in favour of the present-day Gregorian calendar during the sixteenth century. This means that dates in the monastic republic are ten days behind the rest of us. An Edict issued in 1060 AD by the Byzantine Emperor Constantine Monomachos, laid down strict conditions as to who might be admitted, and forbade females from ever crossing its border. This prohibition is still enforced, and no female may set foot on Agion Oros. Men wishing to visit the Holy Mountain are admitted by special permit only. The rest must be content to end their journey at Ouranoupolis. It is quite a large sophisticated resort and is known for its aquamarine waters and delightful beaches. Cruises around the Athos peninsula depart daily from Ouranoupolis. Further north still is Nea Roda. A couple of kilometres along the road from Nea Roda is the tiny port of Tripiti where you can get the ferry to the island of Amouliani, an attractive resort with adequate accommodation and camping facilities.

Below is the text the voter/seller posted on his eBay offer:
A FEW DAYS AGO, THE VICE PRESIDENT OF THE GREEK GOVERNMENT, THEODOROS PAGKALOS, SAID IN AN INTERVIEW THAT GREEK ELECTIONS VOTES ARE SOLD. WELL, I DON’T WANT TO DISAPPOINT HIM.
THE ELECTIONS IN GREECE ARE PROBABLY GOING TO TAKE PLACE IN MAY, SO I FOLLOW HIS ADVICE. I SELL MY VOTE, I’LL VOTE ANYTHING YOU TELL ME TO. IT DOESN’T NEED TO BE A POLITICAL PARTY. YOU’LL TELL ME WHAT TO PUT IN THE ENVELOPE. ONLY PRINTABLE ITEMS THOUGH, LIKE ADVERTISEMENTS,TEXT,PHOTOS,ETC.
MY INITIAL INTENTION FOR MY VOTE WAS A BLANK ONE. BUT UNFORTUNATELY, THE GREEK ELECTORAL SYSTEM COUNTS BLANK VOTES AS INVALID.
CONTENT THAT WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO: RACIST CONTENT,COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL,ADULT CONTENT,VIOLENCE,CURSING.
VIDEO PROOF FROM THE VOTING PROCESS WILL BE UPLOADED.

On Apr-09-12 at 18:29:10 PDT, seller added the following information:Dear Ebay, you told me that i cannot sell this item. I am clearly NOT violating any rule or policy. I am selling the space inside MY envelope on the day of the elections. I’m not selling Greece, i’m selling a service. Thank you.   :)

PS eBay may delete the offer so do not be surprised if you don’t find the link and you can’t submit your bid.
