Romani Musicians and dancers
A percentage of sales will go to human rights, rights of the child, and organizations helping Romani children and families. Certain images are not for commercial sale. Selected images have been donated to such organizations as ERRC, VOR and Teaching Tolerance.
Throughout the world, Romani musicians and dancers are gifted and inspired artists, honoring individuality, creative talent and personal expression. The arts of music and dance of the Roma ranges from India to the famously provocative flamenco puro to the haunting beauty of Eastern European music and the French Django Rinehart and Gypsy Kings. Romani professional (and non professional) artists throughout history are numerous. Important classical composers of Europe such as Lizst to Grieg have borrowed from the Romani music. It is well documented that Romani musicians “jammed” with Jewish Eastern European musicians, in pre- WWII Europe and were in high demand to play for Jewish weddings. Europeans have been greatly enhanced by Romani music; one of the leading pop artists today in Europe is Romani (Manu Chau). Legendary American musicians from Jimmy Hendrix, Santana, to Willie Nelson have been inspired by their interpretation of “Gypsy” style. It is precisely “personal
style and attitude” which makes music and dance distinctly Roma. For the Rom, the arts of music, song, poetry, and dance arean expression of emotion, placing high value on improvisation, intensity, and originality. The expressive arts in turn, act
as a system for teaching oral history and serve as a collective healing. It is expression of talent and sublimation, a manner of enduring and transcending life’s emotional repertoire of sorrow, grief and pain, as well as a celebration olife’s beauty, love, joy and vitality. The arts are a highly regarded force and discipline in many cultures. For most Romani, music and dance are “food for the soul”, an integrated and cherished aspect of life.the Roma come with
the most beautiful song the most beautiful dance the world over

Venus Retrograde
Venus Retrograde
* reconsiders before expressing love or affection
* relates awkwardly to others
* doubts the love others offer
* can become obsessed in relationships
* feels let down by the commitment level of others
Venus involves pleasure, love, romance, relaxation, aesthetics, peaceful feelings, harmony, money, and values. Venus tends to work by attraction. Approximately every eighteen months or so, Venus slips into retrograde for about six weeks. While Venus is retrograde, you are more likely to find your ability to attract what you want restricted or inhibited. You could find yourself much more concerned with achieving or maintaining external beauty, your flow of ready cash, questioning your ideas of pleasure, aesthetics, or even revaluating your feelings about romantic relationships.
Do you find yourself inhibited about seeking what you really want from your romantic partner? Does your ability to attract the money and attention you feel that you need seem to cause you problems? Is your natal Venus retrograde?
A natal Venus retrograde can cause you difficulty achieving fulfillment or finding your right romantic partner. You may be more in love with your ideas about love than you are with any real person you know. In karmic terms, you need to complete a life lesson about giving and receiving love and affection. You are here to determine what is truly of value to you and learn about creating a balance of give and take in your romantic life. Your romantic dialogue has a tendency to be far too internal at times, causing you to inhibit the flow of good things into your life. You will have to be willing to experience loving and being loved in order to attract what you desire into your life and create the feelings of security you need.

Mantilatos Anatoliki Thraki
A dance of Thrace and one of the most spreaded. This song originate in Greeks refugees of East Thrace, which has influences from sounds of East, and many times does not use bagpipes (like the rest of thrace) but instruments from Asia Minor or Greek islands.

Full Moon in Cancer
Parthenon Moon © Anthony Ayiomamitis
Full moons signify the completion, culmination of what may have been initiated during the previous new moon in Capricorn which might have shown us underlying truths, whether we wanted to know or were to find out about. This Full Moon in Cancer encourages us to do something about it, whatever "it" might be for each of our situations. Make a choice. Take action. Find closure/release.
The Moon is at home in Cancer and shines a spotlight on our family life, inner sanctum and emotional self. The Cancer-Moon (inner self) seeks balance with the Capricorn-Sun (external drives) while also making a friendly connection with Mars (motivation). In Cancer, the Moon is emotionally-driven and is motivated by considering the needs of others, especially family. There might be a tendency for protection -- keeping the family safe/secure or self-protection from hurt/disappointment. With Mars also going retrograde before month's end, events/issues surrounding this full moon may resurface around this time again next month. However, this full moon might play out in your world, let your actions (Mars) reflect your heart (Moon) and soul (Sun).
This Full Moon occurs at 19 degrees of Cancer on January 8th (11:30 p.m. Pacific) / January 9th (2:30 a.m. Eastern). Those born within 3 days of January 8 and June 9 or with natal planets and/or house angles on or around 19 degrees of cardinal signs may feel the effects of this full moon stronger than others.
For me, this Full Moon forms a cardinal t-square (challenging energy) with my natal moon, is conjunct (blends energies) my natal Mars, and as a Cancer-Sun, falls in my solar 1st house (self/potential) and as a Virgo-rising, falls in my natal 10th house (future plans). Perhaps it's time to stop fighting against what in my heart, I know, is true and must be done. Make time. Make it happen. It might not be easy, but what worthwhile thing does not involve sweat and commitment, right?
