RIP Papa Stratis
As we are losing so many precious lives in the Mediterranean, we also lost one of our greatest fighters for them in Greece. Yesterday Father Efstratios Dimou, also known as “Papa Stratis”, has passed away. The Greek Orthodox priest was known for his openness to everyone in need, "religion shouldn’t be an obstacle in helping people", he once said.With the help of young local people on the island of Lesvos, through the charity Agkalia (Greek for "Hug") he helped found, he has been providing thousands of refugees with clothing, food, water and a place to sleep over the last few years.
“What I see are people. People in need. I cannot turn them away, nor can I kick them, nor imprison them I cannot send them back to where they came from. Nor can I throw them in the sea to drown. I have seen small children with blisters on their feet and pregnant women holding their bellies and crying in pain. These people are not migrants, they do not choose to come here. They are children of war, fleeing bullets. They are life-seekers, they search for life, hope and the chance to live another day.”
We need more people like him across Europe. He will be missed.

Healing Waters: Full Moon in Pisces

Skin thins. Thoughts move towards the suffering of others and onto how theirs collides with our own. Memories are triggered. Body stirs in the recall. Throat tightens. Chest constricts. Eyes well up with tears.
Maybe the waterworks are a natural outcome of the latest installment of Venus retrograde. The once-every-18-months-or-so cycle has been hard at work this summer, revealing every truth that we have ever tried to outrun as it pertains to how our heart works. Those that we have loved, lost or never had at all seem to re-enter the scene, bringing with them pathways to ancient feelings. Feelings we thought we had long since let go.
Or maybe it’s the next full moon in Pisces that is urging you towards weeping at the drop of a hat. On August 29th, at 11:35 AM PDT, the moon will fulfill its monthly course and peak in the mutable water sign of the fish.
Pisces is the most sensitive, caring, nurturing, kind, understanding, confused, wishy-washy, dreamy, deluded romantic that ever was. Seeing pain is as hard as feeling it personally. Seeing suffering is as hard as experiencing it. There is no difference between us and Pisces perceives these connections. Pisces cannot un-know them. This sign which carries with it the energetic cleansing and creativity of the primordial waters of life has no protection. This is quite possibly its greatest strength. Its vulnerability and its transparency may not win at hand to hand combat but it will win the hearts of its opponents. It’s almost impossible not to fall for the charms of this fish.
Pisces is open to everything: every feeling, thought, experience, person and being on the planet. Pisces wants to feel connected to all, reminds us of our connection to all and engenders opportunities to cry your eyes out for the pain of it all.
This super moon (super moons occur when the moon is closer to the earth than normal) in Pisces has an interesting set up. It is conjunct Neptune, a planet known for its ability to emphasize feelings of anxiety, a planet that has the tendency to erode the concrete and a planet that creates the illusion that life is coming apart at the seems. Being overwhelmed, feeling extra sensitized and less than focused are also effects that Neptune is famous for. It’s not all bad though. This outer planet can lend us its creative genius, psychic talents and all kinds of kindness.
Neptune in Pisces reveals issues that we have around water, both the sources of water that we depend upon to stay alive as a planet and the sources of emotional healing that we need to address both publicly and personally.

"Proud to be Greek" - My Greek Spirit
I need to voice my thoughts, watching this is troubling me , as it is so many other's...I need to say something..... my mind goes to what can be done... we have so many Billionaire's on this planet we call earth and right now they are probably sitting back in their expensive leather chairs watching the news on their huge smart TVs in their huge houses, with their butlers and servants and a garage full of expensive automobiles and toys..and the only thing these refugees want is a chance to live..the only other choice they have is death....which would you choose????..makes me sick to see so many people suffering and yet others don't know what they have sit back and count their money and wont help...where are the humanitarian efforts?? Surely they can help???? or do we only bring out help for natural catastrophes? do we need an earthquake or tsunami to provide help for these people?....isn't there anyone who can give them.some water? some food? .a blanket to keep them warm at night?...how on earth have we become so shallow and uncaring..we are closing borders, telling them to go back? back to where? another country that wont let them in? back to die in their own country? we can send people to outer space, we can mass produce smart TV'S and Computers, state of the art vehicles, homes.and we cant find a safe place for these people to call home?? everyone is entitled to feel safe, why are we turning into barbarians and dealing with situations like this as they would?.. it is so sad a scene like this.. has become just another reality series on TV. As I watch from my computer and read the stories of the turmoil on my computer....I would like to say ,,,,I am proud of my homeland Greece, who did not turn these people back, but is helping feed them, and carry them safely to the mainland , as a country and a nation, we are suffering, we have almost lost everything.... we are on our knees trying to survive, and yet we find what little we can to help these people feel safe, that is what we call in Greece PHILOTIMO.....Philotimo (also spelled filotimo; Greek: φιλότιμο) is a Greek noun translating to "love of honor". I am proud to call my self Greek , proud to be a loving human being, I only wish more countries and humans knew the meaning of that word. God bless and keep all those people safe and may they find some peace.
